With GALS methodology, Household members take responsibility for what they want to be and do , change they want to see , and they work closely with each other , their friends and the community to make a difference . Creating a "vision of the household and a roadmap" for adults and children allows the family to conceptualize and work towards matching common deadlines goals they believe possible. The visualization process is at the heart of the household methods. Key questions include: Where do we want to be within two or three years? Where are we and why? What are the strengths and opportunities on which we can build ? What are the challenges and obstacles we may encounter, and how can we overcome them? Creating pathways change with steps on the road is a central element - both to ensure that the change process is realistic and act as a monitoring tool , allowing adjustments to be made if necessary.

Women account for over 70% of agricultural labor and income generation but are unable to make important decisions about how the money they earn is used by the household
