This project aims to break the cycle of poverty, isolation, violence, exploitation and abuse of children and young people at risk in Rural Rwanda. It is done through creating an improved environment in which households headed by children and young people can exercise their rights and become influential in driving social change.
The project “The Socio-Economic Integration of Child-Headed Households in Post-Conflict Rwanda” was designed to support the socio-economic integration of the most marginalized and vulnerable child-headed households in rural Rwanda.
With support from BLF, ACORD Rwanda embarked on a project to champion women’s rights to land and food security in post-conflict Rwanda. Indeed, in Rwanda, it is estimated that over 500,000 women-headed households live on subsistence farming. Arable land is becoming scarcer and its management is uncertain, especially since the land belongs to state.
The overall objective of the PACT EAC2 project is based on the established premise that gains from agriculture, which is the largest employer and income and hard currency generator in the EAC can be boosted through value addition, the project’s overall objective is “East African national, regional and multilateral stakeholders pursue the inclusion of climate change, food security and trade concerns in their policy efforts to develop agro-processing in the region”.

This baseline study is part of a new programme on Climate Change Adaptation and mitigation as called «Strengthening the resilience and adaptation of vulnerable small scale farmers (SSF) to the effects of Climate Change on their Sustainable Livelihoods».

« L’objectif de notre atelier est de donner des idées à l’Union Africaines et au Conseil des Ministres Africains pour que le contient puisse disposer d’une alimentation suffisante et de qualité. Cet objectif est partagé par le continent et les divers partenaires. Nous voulons que le Conseil des Ministres africains mette en place cette politique harmonisée afin que l’Afrique cesse de demeurer le marché de ce qui est fabriqué ailleurs. Notre continent dispose de son agriculture, de ses propres ressources naturelles.
