L’action de partenariat ACORD Rwanda et Entraide et Fraternité a pour objectif global de promouvoir un processus d’autonomisation et d’empowerment des femmes agricultrices par le développement d’un modèle de business agroécologique pour l’amélioration de la sécurité alimentaire et le contrôle des revenus des ménages. L’action se situe dans le district de Musanze.

This baseline study was carried out in consultation of various sources of information in different institutions. The entire assignment was supervised by the ACORD Rwanda country office, specifically, thanks to the Country Director – Mr. Francois Munyentwari for promptly and efficiently organising and facilitating the entire exercise

Agro-ecological practices (AEPs), whose general principle is to rationally use natural resources to generate better livelihoods and to maximize its potentials by promoting synergies and enhancing ecosystem resilience, are attractive options for both smallholder farmers and consolidated lands for commercial farming.

La question d’implication des associations des PEA dans le monitoring des politiques agricoles et foncières se pose avec acuité dans le contexte actuel ou le MINAGRI est entrain de réaliser une révision de la politique agricole, dans une perspective de renforcer les acquis de récentes reformes agricoles et foncières, visant à augmenter la productivité agricole commerciale, avec tous les impacts négatifs sur les écosystèmes de production.

There is a strong cause-and-effect relationship between the lack of participation of the poor communities, especially small farmers and artisans, in the design and implementation of poverty reduction strategies and other development initiatives, on one hand, and, on the other hand, the miserable reality of “abject poverty” that the people sub-saharian countries are living in.

This study is published as part of the project “Promoting Agriculture, Climate and Trade linkages in the East African Community – Phase 2” (PACT EAC2). Led by CUTS International Geneva in collaboration with ACORD Rwanda, the project aims to build the capacity of individuals, networks and institutions to identify and promote appropriate policies for climate-aware, trade-oriented, food security-enhancing agro-processing in the EAC region.

The present study was conducted on carbon footprint for ACORD-Rwanda and its partners DUHAMIC_ADRI & SOSOMA Industries Ltd as well as in the API-Business Development Company (ABDC Ltd). The study was commissioned by ACORD-Rwanda program and conducted by two climate change specialists from REMA and RDB.

With GALS methodology, Household members take responsibility for what they want to be and do , change they want to see , and they work closely with each other , their friends and the community to make a difference .
